Parbat (पर्वत) Overview
Parbat is a small, scenic hill district in Gandaki Province, famous for Kushma, the headquarters, which is home to some of the world's tallest and longest suspension bridges, including the Kushma-Mudikuwa Bridge, the second-tallest suspension bridge in the world. The district is also famous for the Bungee Jump at the Kaligandaki Gorge, one of the world's highest bungee jumps. Parbat is predominantly inhabited by Magar, Brahmin-Chhetri, and Gurung communities, with strong Gurkha traditions. The district is a major contributor to the British and Indian Gurkha regiments, with remittances playing a significant role in the local economy. Agriculture, particularly paddy, maize, and citrus fruits, along with adventure tourism (bungee jumping, paragliding, and zip-lining), drives the economy. Parbat's stunning natural beauty, including the Kaligandaki River gorge and panoramic mountain views, makes it an emerging adventure tourism destination.
