· Nuwakot is a historic hill district west of Kathmandu, renowned for the iconic Nuwakot Durbar, a seven-story fortress-palace that served as the military base for King Prithvi Narayan Shah during the Unification of Nepal. The district is the ancestral home of the Gorkhali royals and features numerous historical sites, including the Trishuli Bazaar and ancient temples. Nuwakot is predominantly inhabited by Tamang, Newar, and Brahmin-Chhetri communities, with a blend of Buddhist and Hindu traditions.
