Jumla (जुम्ला)

Jumla is a high-altitude district in Karnali Province, famous for its organic apples, Jumli Marsi rice (a unique high-altitude red rice), and the Sinja Valley, considered the cradle of the Nepali language as the Khas people developed their Khas Kura language here during the medieval period. The district headquarters, Chandannath, is a picturesque town with the famous Chandannath Temple, one of the most important Hindu shrines in western Nepal. Jumla is predominantly inhabited by Chhetri, Thakuri, and Kami communities, with strong Hindu traditions.
