Day 1
Kathmandu to Attariya(long bus ride)
This is the longest travel day of the entire trek, and arguably the hardest part. From Kathmandu, you take a bus heading west — first through the hills, then down onto the Terai plains. The road is scenic in parts, especially as you cross the Mahakali region, but the journey takes 19 to 23 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Bring food, water, and entertainment. Sleep if you can. The trek hasn't even started yet, and you will already feel like you've crossed half of Nepal. If you prefer to save time, fly from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi (1 hour 15 minutes), then take a connecting bus or jeep to Attariya. Overnight in Attariya.
